We have a corn snake and just noticed after coming home

Customer Question

Hi! We have a corn snake and just noticed after coming home after vacation that he is not using his last 2/3 of body...barely curling his tail. We dropped him off at a friends house...the cage was not (the top) put on correctly and he escaped. We think he might have fallen and hurt his spine? I noticed he has some dark marks in one area, towards the bottom 2/3rd of his a compression (mild)..possible hematoma under the skin. He ate a pinky last Thursday and had a bowel movement (different than usual in my son said he could still see kinda like the pinky) but he was able to pass it. He normally stays under his rock but not is laying on top of his mulch, eyes wide (glassy, open, staring) very still. We don't want to take him to the vet honestly because my husband doesnt want the xrays as most likely it looks like trauma....just wondering how likely it is that he will survive this the fact that he did eat his pinky on Thursday and I don't see a bulge in his lower 2/3rds as previously thought. So sad.
