My greyhound ran into a branch and punctured his leg, small wound bleeding for 4 hours but not much. Leg swollen +++. Lifting leg when up, not dragging. We live in middle of nowhere and can't get him into car to vets, any help pls
Ouch! We need to get a systemic antibiotic into Sid so that wound doesn't abscess. What do you have at home - dog or human antibiotic? Pain can be managed with aspirin dosed at 10 mg/lb with food and repeated in 12 hour intervals.

It doesn't say, trimethoprim be 200mg

BD not be
The BD is the manufacturer (Becton, Dickinson). I would go ahead and dose at 15 mg/lb once daily until you have Sid examined on Monday. It can be given along with aspirin. Please continue our conversation if you wish.
