I'm sorry to hear of this with Ellie. Regretfully, there are multiple cranial nerve deficits present. The tongue is innervated by cranial nerve XII (hypoglossal), the whiskers are innervated by cranial nerve VII (facial), and her head tilt indicates vestibular (balance) disorders which can arise from inner ear disease (otitis interna) which is affecting the facial nerve or a number of areas in the brain or brainstem. A polyneuropathy or tumor involving the central nervous system are important considerations. X-rays aren't likely to be informative. MRI would be the imaging of choice. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
