I am looking after a dog (Labrador) while the owner is away

Customer Question

I am looking after a dog (Labrador) while the owner is away since Wednesday. They informed me he had been sick Tuesday but seemed better Wednesday. Since then he has been sick a couple of times Thursday and again tonight. His poos have been a mixture of normal and runny and has been suffering with a loss of appetite but keeps eating grass. He is still playful and e joking his walks. Can you give me any advice please?

Good afternoon
Dr. Paul Brazzell here

I would be happy to help you

I would prevent him from eating any more grass-> Can you keep him on a leash when outside

And I would not feed anything more today

You can offer water and pedialyte today

We can give Imodium at 0.1 mg/kg three times a day

And Xantax at 1.0 mg/kg three times a day for the upset stomach

You should update me tonight

Would I need to wait until the morning to get any of those things? Does he need to be taken to the vets?

Does not have to go to vets

You can buy all of those OTC at any drug store or pharmacy
