Customer Question

Hi. There's a magpie in my garden who seems to be injured. What can I do to help poor thing
JA: I'll do all I can to help. What is wrong with the magpie?
Customer: It can't fly.. Seems to be baby one and is just walking around in the garden
JA: This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the magpie?
Customer: Don't think so.. I just feel sorry for it

Hello, you are through Dr Maria.

If seems young, I' leave him for a couple of hours to see if any other magpies appear.

If you think is injured, best would be calling the RSPCA or even taking him to a vet for assessment - if is injured wildlife they will not charge for a consult.

I hope this helps.

I tried calling RSPCA but there’s no response and most Offices are closed due to Covid

No thank you

I don’t want to pay for the call

I understand RSPCA are probably very busy

I would try to catch him with the help of a towel and place him inside a box to take him to your closest vets.

Most veterinary clinics are opened for emergencies (injured wildlife is an emergency)

(you will not pay for the call unless it takes place, and I have declined the request already)
