Veterinary questions? Ask a Vet for Answers ASAP
Hello! My name is***** will be the expert to assist you today with your vet-related questions.
Is Teddy up-to-date with vaccines, flea and wormer?
That's ok. Was there any vomiting or diarrhea?
Sorry, I had a 37 min emergency call. Yes, still here.
Did he still eat as normal?
Does he seem more lethargic than usual?
Thank you. Was there any sneezing or coughing?
I understand. Is there any chance you could check the colour of his gums for me? (if you lift the upper lip)
Thank you. Could I ask you for a short video of him? I'd like to see his breathing, if possible.
You record it on your mobile and then attach it to this conversation
Received, thank you. I agree this doesn't look right. He seems to have laboured abdominal breathing.
Based on the information you have provided, my best recommendation would be for Teddy to see an OOH vet in the following 2-4 hours.
I am sorry to hear that. It's not an ideal situation, unfortunately. Is there anyone who could lend you the finances for this? I think there can be a lot of causes for this (chest infection, heart issues, internal bleeding, cancer, etc). I think it's quite important he gets checked as soon as possible, but I do acknowledge the fact that OOH serviced are quite expensive (consult is normally around £200)
My best recommendation is to get Teddy seen ASAP. If we can't do that, for various reasons, I think the latest he should be seen tomorrow morning at your local vets for a check-up and a full set of bloods. The other alternative would be PDSA (if you qualify), but there is a long waiting list and they might not see Teddy for weeks.
Would you like me to assist you in finding the nearest OOH service?
