i accidently washed my cat in shampoo after she stepped in her poop
JA: I'll do all I can to help. Can you tell me a little more about the cat's situation? How long has this been a concern?
Customer: she's shivering a bit, but idk if that's because shes cold. shes 9wks old
JA: In addition to the shivering, have you noticed any coughing or drooling?
Customer: no
JA: What's the cat's name?
Customer: nala
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know?
Customer: no

Hello my name is ***** ***** I'm a vet in the UK.

Is Nala wet all over? Did she inhale any water?

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
shes only wet from the neck down, and I dont think she inhaled anything

i washed her off again after i realised it was normal shampoo
Customer: replied 14 days ago.
i just checked on her and she's purring
Customer: replied 14 days ago.
i just gave her some more food and shes eating okay

I'm not worried by the shampoo if it was washed off and Nala didn't ingest any.

It sounds like she might just be cold from the water? At 9 weeks of age she will get very cold quite quickly when wet. Can you put the heating on? I wouldn't use the hair drier or fireplace as cats do get singed.

yeah i have her in a heated blanket, so she's not shivering as much. Will her skin be okay? I've read it sometimes causes irritation and dryness?

If you washed the shampoo off it will be fine. Human shampoo contains more detergent than pet shampoo so yes can be irritating on the eyes and skin. But a one off accidental I don't think will be harmful.
