Veterinary questions? Ask a Vet for Answers ASAP
Hello, you are through to Dr Linda, a UK based vet.
What products have you used?
Is this a feral cat who lives outside 24/7?
Thank you for this additional information.
Shaving will not help and isn't advised, so I would avoid doing this again.
Some flea treatments, including Bob Martin and other supermarket products are not very effective.
I would advise using Advantage or Advocate. Ensure you apply it on a dry day as we do not want the kitten to get wet for 48 hours after application.
We should use an effective wormer such as Panacur at the same time.
These treatments should be repeated in exactly one month.
As the kitten is a stray, I would recommend contacting the RSPCA who should be able to catch it and help it. As it is so young, the chances of it being rehomed are high.
This is available without prescription from most pet shops, vets and online.
Hopefully we can get on top of this soon.
