My cat is struggling to pee & poo
JA: I'll do all I can to help. Can you tell me a little more about the cat's situation? How long has this been a concern?
Customer: Since this morning
JA: Does the cat ever go outside? Are they taking any medications?
Customer: no
JA: And what's the cat's name and age?
Customer: sidney, 7
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know about Sidney?
Customer: he last seen the vet the other month and he was extremely healthy the vet said

I think he passed urine/stool during the night, weve been at work today and Doesn’t seem to be breathing fast, we’ve been with him for a few hours and hasn’t been to his food or water yet but he has through the day

His back legs also seem to be weak and can only stand for short periods of time

Trying the litter tray every 15 mins or so but nothings happening for him

No, he’s seemed to struggle this morning and his litter tray is dry when we’ve come back from work. We tried for the vets but they was booked until Monday

Unfortunately I suspect Sidney has a blocked bladder.

This is a life threatening condition which means a cat cannot pass urine.

This can result in a bladder rupture or acute kidney failure. This is a true emergency and Sidney needs to be brought to the out of hours vet now, we cannot wait until morning.

The vet will likely unblock him with a catheter and may also provide fluids and pain relief.
