Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I regret that your case waited so long for a response; I will do what I can to provide the right answer to your question.

If I understand you correctly, the DT 35 mm F1.8 sam lens does not do exposures correctly with your Sony A35 camera, but a 75-300 lens (of some unspecified type and maker) does work.

I want to be sure that I do not give you incorrect advice, so please tell me explicitly:

- Is the DT sam lens one made by Sony?

- How old is the DT sam lens?

- Is the 75-300 lens made by Sony also? and what model is it, please?

Both lenses are made by Sony and are both under 2 years old

Your camera is compatible with some Sony lenses. Some of them are AR lenses.

But the exact model # (of the lens) is needed, please, to make sure this isn't just a compatibility problem.

The lens compatiblity for your Sony Alpha A35 camera, covers only certain lenses.

All of the compatible lens types have model numbers beginning with

except one, the SAL-50F18.

Please try to determine whether you have a Sony-made SAL lens. And what its model # is.

If it is not a Sony-made compatible lens model, the compatibility may limit the performance, of course, in just the manner you have observed.

It sounds to me as if the lens that came with the camera either was defective from manufacturer, or has developed a defect in control/performance.

Remove that lens, and with a soft clean dry lint-free cloth, rub the electrical contacts (copper-colored, on the lens, designed to match those on the lens mount) off gently. If this does not aid in the problem, then you have a defective lens as far as I can see, and you might have to either have it repaired, bear with the problem, or replace the lens - according to your preferences and priorities.

Please rate my Answer - hopefully, favorably - in order that I may be paid for the work I have done on your question. Thanks.
