Customer Question

Brand now nikon Coolpix s9500 used once to empty battery. Now fully charged but won't switch on

Try a hard reset: Remove the battery, memory card (if installed) and disconnect any usb cables. Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds. Allow the camera to sit idle for 20 minutes. Press the Power button once. Reinstall the battery only and attempt to power the camera on. If successful, insert the memory card.

If not, return the camera to the point of purchase, there is a factory defect. If for whatever reason, return is not possible, your camera should still be under Nikon's factory warranty. You can contact a repair centre using the information at the link below:

Please keep in mind that my diagnosis & solutions provided are directly
dependent on the accuracy of your description of the problem. As with
any "do it yourself" fixes, success is a "team effort", since I can't
see or touch the camera, and relies on the customer's manual dexterity
and ability to follow the instructions well.

this didn't work and I'm now stuck on holiday for 2weeks with no camera. Is this a known fault?

Expert:  Russell A. replied 3 years ago.
To my knowledge, it is not a known fault. Do you get any response at all, indicator lights, lens movement....etc.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

no response at all and was working fine until battery went flat. Charger says battery 100% full but no lights on and no response at all

Expert:  Russell A. replied 3 years ago.
Was the camera reading from or writing to the memory card (activity light flashing) when the power dropped out?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

no it wasn't connected to anything and was switched off. Was aware battery was low and charging unit wouldn't work so left off unconnected overnight and bought new charging unit today. Charged until battery was 100% and reinserted but nothing worked, won't even switch on.

It accesses the card right after a shot is taken to write the file then to display it. Also, any time you view a photo or video it initially has to access the card. Just trying to find out if any of this activity was happening when it died.
