Hello my name is***** look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem.
Open a folder and then on the left click on this PC.
Now watch the window that is on your screen, disconnect and connect the camera, does anything happen there?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I opened the folder Desktop - t6his Pc and followed your instructions, nothing happened
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 2 years ago.
That is not a good sign, it should show up there even if the box does not pop up. Can you try a different usb port on the computer?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I have tried another port and followed your instructions again as above but nothing is showing

What model camera is it? Does the computer have a card reader you can test?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It is a Canon EOS 1200D, no card reader that I know of but I have used it with this PC and Windows 7 many times without a problem but this is the first time I have tried to download pictures since the upgrade to Windows 10
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 2 years ago.
From what I can see it is compatible and should not need a driver.
In the search box next to the start menu type device manager and press enter.
In the device manager does it show the camera or any unknown devices?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Nope, lots of devices listed but not the camera nor is there a listing "unknown devices"
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 2 years ago.
Do you have another usb cable you can test with? Even if it was working before upgrading to 10 we need to test this.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
OK, will try another one
Expert:  Freddy M. replied 2 years ago.
Ok let me know the results when you can.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Changed the cable and switched everything back on, checked the device manager - nothing

Unfortunately I am out of ideas so I am going to opt out and open this to all experts. Please do not rate.

Hi, Because the OS Windows 10 upgrade is brand new, no one has figured out a fix yet for it's inability to connect to anything other than the most basic stuff, therefor, the fastest an easiest way to accomplish what you are trying to do is get an inexpensive USB memory card reader. You can take your memory card from the camera and plug it into the computer. The card will show up as a removable drive in "This PC" and you can copy the photo files to a folder on your hard drive and view and transfer them from the card into any compatible camera software. Personally, I prefer this method due to the simplicity and reduced wear and tear on the camera. It is my experience that with the level of cooperation between them, it will take weeks for camera companies (Canon included) and Microsoft come up with any reasonable solutions for direct camera to computer connectivity.
