Hello, my name is Rusty. The discs that will play in a standard DVD player is dependent on the disc, not the contents of the disc. In order to play it on another recorder, you will have to locate the FINALISE menu option. Once you finalize the disc, it will play in standard DVD players.

How do i finalise it ?
Expert:  Rusty replied 2 years ago.
What is the model number of the DVD recorder used?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
DVD drive ( TSST corp DVD +RW TS-L633B )

Ok, since this is on your computer, can you tell me which program you are using to burn to DVD?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Sony PlayMemories Home

Ok, that's not the program I use to burn, but click the settings button. Do you see an option to finalise?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I will check in the morning and get back to you, thanks for your help

You are very welcome, finalising is one of the causes, the other is burning a DVD disc versus a DVD DATA disc. They are very different. At very least, if you cannot locate the finalise command, I can show you how to use other software to burn to disc.

HiI have tried to find finalise option but no success, when burn is complete it ejects the disc then the following info appears "DVD media containing AVCHD footage can not be used with standard DVD players or recorders" Is there an easier way to burn without using the Sony Software ?colin

It's not "easier", but here is what we do to make DVDs. DVD players use .iso files, so it's a 2 step process. Click here. Use this program to convert your videos into a .iso file. Then, click here. This program copies the .iso file to DVD in a way that DVD players can read the disc. This is the standard for making DVD movies.

hi, i have tried and failed to carry out your instructions, i am a complete novice with computers and you are an expert which makes it easy for you. i find using the programmes you suggest difficult to understand and the process as clear as mud. Any other help would be appreciated.

I will open the question back up. Don't rate my service, and you won't be charged for my time.

Hi there and welcome
The problem you have is the AVCHD is meant for Bluray Disks, not DVD's.
In order to get this to work on a DVD, it needs to be converted then the written to VOB files which is what DVD players read.
But none of this you need to really know as there is a program that will take care of this all for you
It is called Digatry and it is designed specifically to convert the AVCHD to DVD to be played on any DVD player.
It also can be trialed free and you can obtain it on my link below
The full step by step instructions on how to convert and make the DVD can be found there as well.
If you have any problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Else if you can take a second to rate my service by clicking one of the stars at the top of the screen then submit, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, you may be missing a codec on your computer but the question was about your DVD player. If you play it on this, what then?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
So if i now burn it, it will play on standard DVD player
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, not really sure what you were just doing....but follow the steps in the program to convert the Video to a DVD disk then play it in a DVD player...
