I have a NV-GS10, when the LCD monitor is opened the screen

This answer was rated:

I have a NV-GS10, when the LCD monitor is opened the screen is blank, the image is gone, but when closing the LCD monitor the image appears at approximately 10egrees from closed, at this point the menu screen is clearly visible on the LCD monitor via the view finder. The playback facilities also do not work.
I assume the LCD monitor has failed.
Can you pleas advise further and provide an estimated cost for repair.

What happens when you try to play back film when it is at 10 degrees? Does it play then?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
At 10 degrees the play back does not work.
This confirms its not the LCD switch that has been bent (which can be repaired) but the mainboard in the camera that would need to be replaced.
The problem is unless you can find a second hand one that has a working mainboard, the cost to repair this outweighs the value of purchasing a replacement. The cost would be between 300-400 with a limited warranty IF the repair store can source one (as the part is still not sold new anymore).
In my experience I would not look at a repair, its just not worth it in the end for such a problem.
I am really sorry about this, and if you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Assuming I can source the parts is this something I could attempt myself. Is there a suitable manual available that could be used.
If you can get a working mainboard from a second hand unit, you can do it yourself.
There is no manual available to lead you through this, but it is a case of carefully noting the screws that are holding it in, documenting when you remove these so that you can do it in the reverse order when installing it again.

The other features/functions and control buttons on the Unit appear to be operating correctly, the menu windows are visible via the viewfinder as described above . It possible to disable/switch off the LCD using the control buttons ?
/No, it does not have the functionality to do this

Replacing the failed mainboard is therefore the only option.
Based on the symptoms describe this is correct, source one from a second hand camera that is still working eg: Lens or Casing was cracked
And put this into your unit.
