Hi John. Welcome to justanswer.

What issue are you facing with your camera?

John, connect your camera to the computer via usb cable

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I get the message Memory Card Error. I assume I need to format the memory card but cannot find format on the camera menu.
I do not have the required USB cable. Can't I do it on the camera?

Yes you can format from your camera. Turn it on

Press Menu and go to Settings Tab

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
On my list I have Auto settings[as well as IS settings] etc. I assume auto settings is the one.

Press Menu and then rotate the zoom lever until you see a Settings Menu (sign of a wrench) where the first option on the list will be Mute

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Got that

Scroll down and you will see option FORMAT

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That's the problem Nathan Format is not in the list?

Do you have a laptop?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Remove the memory card from the camera and your laptop would have a memory card adapter on the side. Connect the memory card there.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not sure where the adaptor input is on the laptop?

Which laptop is it. I will show you a picture

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Acer Aspire 5553G. Can't see any input that would fit the memory card?

Check these attached images

Your laptop must have it

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I've just pulled a blank plastic "plug" out of the front of the laptop which has a slot wide enough for the memory card but I'm reluctant to put it in in case I can't get it out?

You can get it out easily. Just push it and it will pop out. Push it again and it will remain there

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This plug has the same shape as the memory card
OK done!

Yes i know. Remove that plastic out and put your sd card there. Insert it into it

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Have done

Now check on your laptop, it will be shown there. Right click and choose format

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Sorry where is it shown?

Which version of windows is there on your laptop?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I've got it on the top bar.

Right click it
