Hi,

The Flash does not operate in the ASR mode, [Macro], [Landscape], [Text], [Sunset], [Dawn], [Firework] scene modes and the Movie clip mode, so ensure you are not in any of those modes.

Hi,

For the Flash / Left button to work, the menu must not be showing on the LCD - do you get to that point where you can press the Flash button to select the flash mode and does it appear on the LCD?

hi Rich
i can press the left hand flash button to select flash mode alright. However as i toggle through all the flash options i can’t select the right option. it seems like i inly have three option, no flash, red eye reduction and one other which i dint understand.should there be more options available to me here?

Hi Tom,

I don't know if you have the manual but you can download it here (sorry it's too big for me to attach):

On pg 26 it shows which Flash mode is available by Recording Mode (the key for the icons is shown on pg 9).

I suspect you are in Auto mode as that only has 3 flash option including No Flash.

If you change the Recording Mode to Program mode you should see all Flash options.

hi rich,
i putnit in program mode and selected flash, more options here alright. when i take a photo now the flash icon turns red but no flash goes off when i take the snap

Hi Tom,

It may depend on which Flash mode you're in and the lighting conditions.

Auto Flash only works when it's too dark, but if you try Fill-In Flash then the Flash should fire regardless of the light level.

i used fill in flash and it didn’t go off when i took the snap. i’m assuming a fault has occured.

hi rich battery is fully charged, fill in flash icon turns red when i compose and take a snap but thr flash doesnt go off.

Hi Tom,

Try going back to Auto Flash and taking some shots in a darkened room.

Also, when you take a photo try pressing the shutter button halfway down for a while.
