Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. My name is ***** ***** I look forward to assisting you today. If your new PC does have a PCI slot, then the best and safest way to transfer would be to install a firewire video card. Let me know if that is what you would like to do, and I will locate the proper hardware for you.

How does a firewire fit into pci slot -i think i may have a 'fireeire' - that can be fitted . Last year i got a small package - in post -( from no idea where?) shall locate the 'item' & photograph it send it by email later - maybe then you could guide me thru. Also have vhs tapes ( svhs tapes) that wish to tranfer to PC - the capture thing is for W XP - so redindant ' aspprecite advice. One of these tapes - sons sound project Stone Roses made of Stone - to Oliver Stpne films - want to have this re-edited for my son ( was 20 years ago) thing is the film clips shall require identifying. I have filmed it off TV - playing vhs - this is just his home copy not the Project copy & there is a section needs replacing at start - also have an idea for additional clips Jim Morrison Amarican Prayer - the whole piece would be 5 mins - like to present that to him for Xmas

have you got the email?

The firewire card has to be specific for the PCI slot you have open. DO NOT try to force it, or you will damage the slot and card. If you can give me the make and model of your computer, I will be happy to check it for you.
