I have a 2008 VW passat diesel estate and the fuel filler cap

Customer Question

I have a 2008 VW passat diesel estate and the fuel filler cap won't open i have unlocked the car, all doors, and pulled the release lever in the door. I can't see any way inside to release it manually?

Hello and Welcome -

My name is MIKE -Im happy to help you .

Most of these models have a manual pull release - be sure to check behind the trim on that side of the car in the boot - remove the panel to check -

Other than that - the usual fault is the motor / device lock that has broken / seized - and this can often often cause the fuse to blow for that - I dont have enough vehicle detail to tel you which fuse - but your owners manual will tell you - its worth checking that first - and then retry.

If you don't progress as above - you can remove the paneling inside the boot as above and manually remove the lock mechanism to enable the flap to open.. to get fuel. The unit will likely then need to be renewed to cure it if its seized / broken.

Let me know how you get on - or if you need anything else at all...

Kind Rgds - MIKE.
