V50 1.6 diesel 11plate: is 125000miles good time to say goodbye before issues start please ?

I guess it mostly depends on how well its been looked after and any repairs its required have been done ie: at mot time or keeping to regular service intervals - it isnt uncommon to see diesels around that age have mileage like that but doesnt mean the car will develope a hole host of faults because of that, ive seen plenty of v50 with that 1.6 ford engine have higher mileage than that and still drives well they are generally good cars....BUT its getting into that time where you have to think about larger jobs needing done like the timing belt for example if it hasnt already been done..general wear and tear items such as brakes , brake lines , suspension parts , or even eventually looking at getting a new clutch inc dmf flywheel which will be the most expensive should the time come to get it done... in the meantime if the cars is running well with no issues and has long MOT then it could be worth at least looking around for something newer that does all you need the v50 does currently

Thank you . I am trying to form a judgement on what you have said . It would seem that whilst the car may go on for sometime nevertheless with high mileage it is an increasing risk factor for expensive work . Therefore your considered advice is to sell whilst it is going well . (?)

There nothing wrong with looking around whilst the cars in good running order as that will go a little bit towards if trading in..having said that there shouldnt be any reason why you can still use the car if your comfortable with running costs service costs / mots as your doing and the garage your using is reasonable..but like i say above obviously things like timing belts "espcially so if it hasnt been done already" / clutch, dmf will be something that may crop up sooner or later.especially if its on the same clutch right upto 125,000miles...but i cant tell you just go out and get rid of it now..use the time to look about for something newer / less mileage with good service history in the meantime..
