Volvo Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
You may be offered a phone call which I don’t think is necessary at the moment,
So when driving normally you come to a stop, the engine cuts out? Then when you put in gear what happens? Does it not start?
So it stops as it should by turning engine off. But it won’t restart, has this been since the battery was changed?
Can I ask did you fit the battery yourself? Was it a AGM battery?
Ok because it must be a AGM battery for a car with the stop start system, not a normal lead acid battery, as that can cause these issues, efb sounds like the make somewhere on the actual battery it will have the letters AGM standing for Absorbent Glass Matter,
It may be worth getting your mechanic to check the clutch switch is working ok as it’s registered that you have stopped and cut the engine off but not that you want to start off again,
The battery needs to checked make sure it’s the correct type, ok sorry I didn’t realise it was an automatic, it won’t be the fuel, so when you pull up to a standstill the engine cuts out but when you lift off the brake and press the accelerator it doesn’t start?
And when you pull up you don’t take it out off drive you leave the gear selector alone?
As it’s an automatic the brake switch needs to be tested to make sure it’s registering the pedal position
